Uganda and Rwanda signed the Congo peace agreement, as did Congo president Laurent Kabila, his international supporters, and some of the rebel groups who had opposed the Kabila government. However, disputes between the once-united rebels in Congo led to war between Uganda and Rwanda, most of which was fought in the Congo capital of Kisangani.  1
 
2000, March 17
 
Concluding a series of cult uprisings that claimed the lives of at least 924 Ugandans, some 330 members of the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God died in a church fire in Kanungu.  2
 
June 19
 
Having lost the war with Rwanda that had broken out in the Congolese city of Kisangani, Uganda withdrew from the area, leaving more than 150 dead and 1,100 injured.  3
 
June 29
 
Pres. Museveni won a victory for his “no party” system (a form of one-party rule) inasmuch as it was supported by voters in a national referendum.  4
