They believed all but the few touched by the grace of God were damned. Jansenism centered on Port Royal and its convent. They were declared heretical by the pope in 1653, but with the assistance of Blaise Pascal, the pope agreed to allow Jansenists to continue within the Church (1669). | 3 |
