King and regent returned to Paris. Serious provincial unrest but also beginning of revolt of princes. The prince of Condé opposed the first minister and gained control of the government. His friends earned the right to sit with the king and queen, but other nobles demanded that right be revoked.  1

Condé and the duke of Longueville arrested and second phase of Fronde began.  2
 
Jan. 19
 
War broke out between princes in the provinces and the regency. Normandy was rapidly subdued (March 5).  3
 
Jan. 21
 
The party of the Fronde arrested during the first phase acquitted. This completed the separation of interests of the nobility and Parlement.  4
