A meeting occurred in Islamabad, Pakistan, between India and Pakistan over the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. In a conflict continuing from 1947, Kashmir, a mostly Muslim region, wanted independence from Hindu India, protesting rights violations. The talk ended in a stalemate.  1
 
1995, June 22–25
 
The militant Muslim group Mohajir Quami Movement ravaged the commercial hub of Karachi, killing approximately 75 people.  2
 
July 19
 
At least 30 were killed in an ethnic battle in Karachi.  3
