In the wake of Turkey's invasion of Cyprus, the military junta collapsed (See 1974, July 20). President Ghizikis called on prominent civilians to form a new government for national emergency. Konstantinos Karamanlis was reinstated as prime minister, thus restoring democratic civilian government. | 1 |
