The Communist Party condemned Vice President Milovan Djilas for criticizing party policy and stripped him of his party position. Djilas's widely translated book, The New Class, attacked the privileges of Communist Party officials.  1

A joint statement with Turkey reaffirmed the objectives of a Balkan military alliance and gave Greece assurances that its approval would be sought on “all questions of principle.”  2
