Agreement on a Saudi protectorate for the territory of Asir. The ruler of Asir, Sayyid Muhammad ibn Ali, formally handed over control of foreign affairs to the Saudis to protect himself from the incursions of Yemeni forces. On Nov. 20, 1930, the Asir was absorbed into the larger Saudi kingdom. By this point, the borders of Saudi Arabia had assumed their present shape. | 1 |
