Experimentation and innovation in Persian fiction. A new generation of writers emerged who began working with themes and genres not found in classical Persian prose. Among the most significant of these authors were Sadiq Hedayat, Sadiq Chubak, Buzurg Alavi, and Jalal al-e Ahmad. A similar spirit entered Persian poetry and was best exemplified in the work of Nima Yushij.  1

Founding of the first chamber of commerce.  2
Production of the first feature-length film, Avi va Rabi, by Avans Ohanian. The first movie to have a Persian soundtrack, Dukhtar-i Lur (The Lur Girl), appeared in 1932.  3

The technique of dubbing entered the Iranian cinema in 1946, providing Iranians with unprecedented access to foreign films.  4
Creation of a navy in the Persian Gulf. The fleet consisted of six ships purchased from Italy.  5
Unilateral cancellation of the D'Arcy Oil Concession of 1901. After negotiations with the Anglo-Persian Oil Company in 1933, the Iranian government accepted a compromise through which it was to receive higher royalties. In return, the company's concession was extended to 1993.  6

A new law required all legal and property documents to be registered in state courts. The reform came at the expense of the ulama, who lost the substantial income that these transactions had generated within the Islamic court system.  7
