Operatives of the Macedonian terrorist organization IMRO assassinated Stamboliski's close adviser Alexander Dimitrov.  1

Through repressive measures the Agrarians won a great electoral victory. It was rumored that Stamboliski planned to use this opportunity for more reforms, including the abolition of the monarchy.  2

STAMBOLISKI WAS OVERTHROWN by a conspiracy of officers with the support of a number of political parties, affected by his attempt to deprive them forever of a say in government. A new cabinet was formed by Alexander Tsankov.  3
 
June 14
 
Stamboliski was shot and killed, allegedly in an effort to escape. Tsankov and the new government proceeded with great vigor in a policy of revenge.  4
 
Sept
 
On instruction from Moscow, the Bulgarian Communist Party staged a badly organized revolt, which was easily suppressed.  5
