The deportation of Jews began in the Netherlands first with foreign Jews and then Dutch Jews. In the summer the Catholic and Protestant Dutch Reformed churches organized a joint public denunciation, sparking Nazi threats of reprisals. When the Catholics proceeded alone with denunciations, the Nazis began to deport Jews who had converted to Catholicism too. | 2 |
