The army announced a major offensive in northern Burma, to suppress a strong force of Chinese Nationalists in operation there since 1949. On March 25, the government called on the UN to condemn Nationalist China for aggression.  1
 
April 22
 
The UN political committee adopted a resolution that called for removal or internment of “foreign troops” in operation in Burma. Burma and Nationalist China abstained.  2
