The main center of Communist resistance at Prome was taken by the army. The government was thus able to regain some control over the major towns and means of communication. Rebel activity, however, continued, and elections, already postponed several times, had to be postponed for another year. In the meantime the economic condition of the country, already seriously affected by the war, was steadily growing worse. | 3 |
