Replacement of the official two-party system with the Resurgence Party, which embraced the principles of the White Revolution. People were expected to join the party to show support for the government and its programs. By 1977 party officials claimed a membership of some 5 million.  1

Switch to a new Persian calendar, which was calculated from the founding of the Persian Empire in the 6th century B.C.E. As of March 21, the new year was dated 2535.  2
