Devaluation of the peso, from 250 to 350 pesos to the U.S. dollar. Foreign exchange controls were abolished, and more liberal economic policies were adopted.  1

Stabilization of the economy, control of trade unions and regulation of strikes, and the freezing of wages took place.  2
 
1969, May 13
 
Major student demonstrations were followed by labor protests and strikes lasting for several weeks. A limited state of siege was proclaimed (May 28), and nine out of ten state universities were closed.  3
 
June
 
Under pressure from reformists in the military and growing unrest, Minister of the Economy Adalbert Krieger Vasena resigned.  4
 
Aug
 
A general strike in Córdoba followed major student-worker demonstrations in Rosario, Corrientes, and Córdoba. Participants in the uprising, known as the Cordobazo, briefly managed to take over the city and declare a socialist revolution before it was put down by the military.  5
