Konstantinos Mitsotakis's New Democracy secured 150 out of 300 seats in the Parliament, and he was able to form the first single-party government since 1981. His government began privatizing state-owned industrial companies to stimulate the national economy. This election signaled the end of the rule of PASOK and Papandreou.  1
