Greenland achieved internal autonomy under Danish sovereignty in May 1979. It withdrew from the European Community in 1985. Greenland followed Denmark's policy of a nuclear weaponsfree zone; in the late 1980s there was a dispute over the installation of advanced radar equipment at the U.S. airbase in Thule. Greenland signed a fishing cooperation agreement with Denmark and Russia in March 1992. | 1 |
