Social Democrats in power. Anker Jorgensen returned to office as premier and formed a coalition government of Social Democrats and Liberal Democrats in February 1975. His government retained Danish membership in the EC and NATO, and took measures to fight unemployment and inflation. In Sept. 1979, Jorgensen's coalition government failed, due to disagreements on price and income policies. He set up a minority Social Democratic government after his party won limited gains in general elections, and began the toughest price and wage freeze since the war. In September 1982 Jorgensen's government resigned after failing to secure parliamentary passage of economic austerity measures. | 1 |
