| Pierre Mendès-France alienated many of his fellow deputies with his attempts to solve the conflict between France and the insurgent forces in French North Africa. The National Assembly overthrew the Mendès-France cabinet (Feb. 5) and approved a cabinet led by Edgar Faure (Feb. 23). The Faure cabinet lasted until Nov. 29, and when it fell Faure ordered the Assembly dissolved (Nov. 30). | 1 |
