A new Peace Preservation Law was enacted, and the police rounded up a group of Korean Communists and other leftists (Nov.).  1
 
1926, March
 
Pak Yl (1902–74), an anarchist and radical activist in the Korean community in Japan, was arrested for plotting the assassination of the Japanese emperor. He was condemned to death, but amnestied the next month, spending the next 20 years in prison. Many similar terrorist acts were attempted in Korea and China against Japanese.  2

The Korean Communist Party (Chosn Kongsandang, with a different word for “Korea” in its title) was founded in Seoul and received recognition by the Communist International in Moscow (spring 1927).  3
 
June 10
 
In conjunction with the funeral for King Sunjong, anti-Japanese riots erupted throughout the colony.  4
