The al-Rajma Agreement between the Sanusiyya and the Italians. It created an autonomous zone for the Sanusiyya confederation around several oases in Cyrenaica and recognized AL-SAYYID IDRIS, the Sanusi leader, as emir of this region.  1

By decree all uncultivated lands became state property. A further decree (Feb. 10, 1923) set the terms by which Italian settlers could lease or purchase these lands.  2
After the war with the Sanusiyya, colonial authorities seized all Sanusi estates. In a later decree, the government appropriated additional lands belonging to the tribes. If the tribes did not officially object to government seizure of their lands, it was assumed that they had renounced them. Many tribesmen lost their land before they had even heard of these proclamations.  3
