Issuing of the Churchill White Paper, an attempt by the Colonial Office to clarify British policy in Palestine. It promised support for the Zionist cause as outlined in the Balfour Declaration, but favored restrictions on immigration, contingent upon “the economic capacity of the country at the time to absorb new arrivals.” The statement further promised that the rights of the Arabs would be upheld and that the inhabitants of Palestine would eventually receive self-government.  1

The League of Nations officially entrusted the Palestine mandate to Great Britain.  2
 
Aug
 
Promulgation of a constitution for the mandate. The Arabs organized a boycott of elections, and the British abandoned the plan.  3
