Visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada. They were the first reigning sovereigns to visit the Dominion and were given an enthusiastic reception.  1

Britain's declaration of war on Germany (See Sept. 3) brought forth expressions of solidarity in Canada, and the government at once took steps to aid the mother country in the great conflict.  2
