The cortes was reestablished by Gen. Franco, but on Fascist lines. It was to form the supreme organ of the state and to be composed of 438 members, almost all selected by virtue of the fact that they had qualified for administrative or juristic posts.  1

Under Allied (especially U.S.) economic pressure, the Spanish government agreed to restrict the shipment of minerals to Germany and to limit the activities of Axis agents in Spain. (See Spain)  2
