A force publique was established in the Congo for police and military duties.  1
Plymouth Brethren mission was established in Katanga.  2

Rescue of Emin Pasha, the governor of Equatoria Province, by Henry Stanley. The relief expedition was financed by King Leopold and by William MacKinnon, chairman of the Imperial British East Africa Company. Emin Pasha refused to leave and was murdered in the Congo in Oct. 1892.  3
