In the Ottoman-Saudi Treaty, Ibn Sa’ud recognized Ottoman sovereignty over Najd in return for his appointment as governor of a newly constituted province (vilayet) of Najd and hereditary rule for his family. (See States of the Arabian Peninsula)	1
