The emerging Saudi state became a district (qada’) of the Ottoman province of Basra, in response to Ottoman pressure.  1

Ottoman-British agreement on the demarcation of the boundary between the British sphere of control around Aden and Ottoman Yemen. The agreement was not ratified by the sultan but helped to reduce tensions between the parties.  2
