Isabella married Francisco, duke of Cádiz, and her sister, Luisa Fernanda, married the duke of Montpensier (youngest son of Louis-Philippe). The latter marriage violated the agreements at Eu made in 1843 and 1845 between Britain and France, which specified that Luisa should not marry a French prince unless her sister had married and borne children.
