Prince Norodom Sihanouk, of the People's Socialist Community, became premier, following the deposition by the National Assembly of Premier San Yun over a budget dispute.  1

In elections for the National Assembly, the People's Socialist Community won all the seats.  2
 
July 10
 
The National Assembly invested a new cabinet headed by Prince Norodom Sihanouk. On July 18 Sihanouk notified Beijing of the decision to recognize the Communist Chinese government.  3
