Israel and the PLO resumed peace talks regarding the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The PLO signed an economic pact with Jordan providing for a Jordanian financial role in developing the Palestinian regions. The Syrian president Hafez al-Assad also endorsed the Israel-PLO accord. On Feb. 9 Israel and the PLO signed accords to further implement Arab self-rule on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank city of Jericho. | 1 |
