Minister of Industry Ernesto “Che” Guevara announced a reduction in industrial investments to allow for more production of consumer items.  2

Cuba was condemned by the Organization of American States for supplying pro-Communist Venezuelan guerrillas with arms. The OAS invoked sanctions and called on members to sever diplomatic and trade relations. Only Mexico and Jamaica refused.  3
