Lt. William L. Calley was court-martialed for atrocities committed in the Vietnamese village of My Lai. Retaliating for the casualties of their comrades, soldiers in 1968 allegedly killed 350 Vietnamese villagers.  1

Daniel Ellsberg leaked classified documents (the so-called Pentagon Papers) to the New York Times; the documents detailed numerous instances of governmental wrongdoing in the prosecution of the Vietnam War. The officials tried unsuccessfully to stop the story from running.  2
The National Women's Political Caucus was formed to promote the election of women to public office.  3
The Office of Economic Opportunity was dismantled in the wake of conservative reactions against government spending on social welfare programs.  4
