On a visit to Washington and New York, Churchill conferred with President Harry Truman and President-elect Dwight Eisenhower on European defense, the Korean War, and Anglo-American relations. Two months later (Mar. 4–7) Foreign Secretary Eden visited Washington to discuss U.S. air bases in Britain, British relations with Iran, and other problems.  1
