The Germans captured Kerch. Rostov, entered by the invaders (Nov. 22), was retaken by the Russians a week later (Dec. 1). A counterthrust temporarily relieved the pressure on Moscow (Dec. 6), and the Russians were also able to retake Kalinin (Dec. 16).  2
