After three months of varying success but increasing pressure, the Russians breached the Mannerheim Line. Finland accepted peace, negotiated at Moscow, ceding to the USSR the Karelian Isthmus, the city of Viipuri (Vyborg), a naval base at Hangö, and territories totaling 16,173 square miles, with a population of 450,000.
