Great Britain and France guaranteed Romanian independence and integrity following the German annihilation of Czechoslovakia and rumors of a German ultimatum to Romania. But the Bucharest government nevertheless concluded a commercial agreement with Germany giving the latter broad scope for expansion of Romanian industry.
