The Communists were allowed to reenter political life under the guise of the Bulgarian Workers' Party.  2
 
1930, Jan. 20
 
The Hague agreement greatly reduced the Bulgarian reparations payments. Like the other Balkan nations, Bulgaria began to feel the impact of the depression. Unemployment rose in urban centers as farmers' earnings fell. Economic distress convinced many to accept the radical solutions offered by the extreme Left and Right.  3
