A reduction in the flour ration sparked a series of strikes throughout Austria. The workers were joined by the Fifth Fleet, which mutinied on Feb. 1. Both movements were suppressed.  1

The delegates of the German parties who had been elected to the 1911 Reichsrat convened as the provisional National Assembly of the “independent state of German-Austria.”  2

A provisional government was formed under Karl Renner. This government coexisted with the imperial government until November.  3

Emperor Charles stepped down but never formally abdicated.  4
 
Nov. 12
