Enactment of new language regulations. Henceforth French was to be the administrative language only of the Walloon provinces, while in Flanders the Flemish language was to be official.  1

Conclusion of the Ouchy convention between Belgium, Luxembourg, and Holland. The three parties agreed to gradual reduction of economic barriers between them.  2
 
Sept. 14
 
The government was granted extraordinary power to deal with the alarming budget deficits. The worldwide depression struck Belgium very hard in view of the cessation of German reparations payments. In response to a series of strikes, the government pressured employers to stabilize falling wages.  3
