Last convict ship arrived in Tasmania (Hobart). Since 1803 about 68,500 convicts had been landed in the island (about 4,000 a year after 1841). The name Tasmania now definitively replaced that of Van Diemen's Land, and a constitution not unlike that of New South Wales was adopted.  2
