Russia declared war on the Ottoman Empire. The British disapproved (Wellington ministry, Jan. 1828), but the French were friendly to Russia, and Austria did not dare raise too many objections.  1

Anglo-French convention with Muhammad Ali provided for the evacuation of the Egyptian forces from Greece. This was carried out by a French expeditionary force under Gen. Maison (winter, 1828–29).  2
